I'm baaaack!!

Did you miss me?

Taking a break from the blog was a good thing, but now I have to play catch-up. So what’s been going on in the Sedentary world the last month and a half?

I had a birthday. 28 May was my 34th birthday. The whole family got together the weekend before and celebrated my birthday and my grandmother’s. I ended up with a couple new nonstick skillets that I love, some money with which to buy a chest freezer (yay for being able to buy meat in bulk from Costco!), and several gift certificates to Yarn Barn. I’m waiting for a rainy day to spend them. Retail therapy is always helpful, but retail therapy that doesn’t cost you anything is even better.

The best present was the one from Shane. And let me tell you, he is a sneaky one, that husband of mine. I had no idea he was such a good liar. For months now, he has told me that we weren’t going to be able to go to Estes Park this year because we needed to be able to spend the vacation money on fixing up the house. The prospect of not going on vacation this year was pretty depressing to me, but I agreed. Turns out that all along he was planning a trip with Wendy and Pete as a surprise. So we’re going to Estes the first week of September. Yee haw!

Let’s see… Oh! We redecorated the bathroom. It was a pretty simple thing to do that has made it feel like we have a brand new bathroom. I bought new towels and a shower curtain, and we (I) painted the walls a medium blue-grey. I even reattached the doors to the vanity that have been detached and sitting in the kitchen for the last 5 years. Yes, I am the world’s biggest procrastinator. The next big redecorating project is the living room. I’ll try to remember to take before and after pictures.

In electronics news, my camera is on its way back to me from Canon. I had to send it back to them to be fixed, which they did, and now it’s in transit back to me. It should arrive tomorrow.

My laptop is dead. I won’t bore you with the details, but I have not had use of it since a week ago Sunday, and it’s making me crazy. Dad has it right now. He’s trying to determine if the problem is software or hardware. Hopefully it’s not hardware. My warranty is up the first week of August, so if the problem is hardware, at least it will be covered by warranty.

And, the living room TV is about to die. It struggles to turn on when it’s been sitting cold for a while. One of these days it’s just not going to come on at all. It’s only 5 years old. Electronics are so disposable nowadays. Good thing we have already decided to buy a new flat screen TV as part of the living room redecorating.

On the knitting front, I have accomplished quite a lot in my blogging absence. I have several FO posts to make over the next week. First up is the afghan square that I made for Dame Wendy. She solicited afghan squares that she could sew up into an afghan for a friend who has cancer. Sadly, the friend passed away before Wendy could get the blanket finished. Her plan is now to give the blanket to the friend’s grandchildren.

Pattern: none, really. I chose a stitch pattern out of that 365 knit stitches perpetual calendar thing. Can’t remember what it was called, but something with triangles.
Yarn: Lamb’s Pride Worsted in Lotus Pink
Needles: 29” Inox circulars in size 9

More FO pics to come…

Happy Belated Birthday!

I'm so jealous that you get to go to Estes Park! We used to live in Boulder and that was a regular weekend trip for us.
